Mar. 16th, 2006 07:13 amToday at work we'll be moving grandma's stuff out to Harrisburg. Grandma herself will be staying where she is for at least a while. There's also a closing that we're doing the mortgage for -- I dropped off the check for that at the attorney's office yesterday. (As the lender, we do not actually have to attend the closing -- there' s nothing for us to sign or anything and our primary role is to hand over the check. We generally *attend* the closings, but we do not actually HAVE to attend them.)
The SKP continues apace. I am almost done with the next-to-last ball of yarn. Yes, yes, baby shower that I need this for is on Saturday. There's plenty of time. I have all the way to Harrisburg and back today to work on it and I need about two inches to make it *acceptably* done. It'd be nice if I could use up all of the final ball of yarn (about four inches of knitting), but if that simply isn't possible due to time constraints, well, the world will not end.
After the SKP: knee socks in eyestrain purple with pink highlights. On two circulars. Two socks at one time! Can't you just *feel* the excitement?

Date: 2006-03-16 12:45 pm (UTC)Socks will be fun for you, and having them going at once seems as though it will maximize the chances of them matching (which would be my issue with knitting socks). (Are you going for eyestrain purple and pink because you have the yarn around or because you have a closet fondness for the colors? ;) )

Date: 2006-03-17 12:02 am (UTC)Some valuable things came out of the mitten project, though. I learned to do two-handed fair isle. I learned how to do mittens. I learned about the value of taking notes. I learned that paired items (like socks, mittens, gloves, and sleeves) should be MADE in pairs for ease of making them all the same so that they match and so that they are both done at one time. It was educational.
It was also pink-and-purple, and I am sorry about that I have failed you all on this front. It was yarn that I had on hand. You get knitterly bonus points for using yarn you already have on hand. The reason I had pink-and-purple yarn on hand AT ALL was that it was on sale at half the price of reasonable colors.
Perhaps now would be a good time to mention that I also have underwear in girly colors (though without lace)? Did you know that I own a rainbow-striped dildo? (It's cheerful, which I think is an important quality for a fake penis to have. Yes, I rather think I *will* shut up about my dildo now.) Everybody knows that I also fetishize fruit-and-flower scented glycerin soaps? (Lime-magnolia or Avocado-hydrangea or whatever. I buy one of every color when the stuff goes on sale at BB&B. The current bar is purple [yes, really] and called "Raspberry", a scent that it vaguely resembles in an overly-sweet way.) I bake bread from scratch. I have never used a pre-made pie crust. I make and can my own preserves. I'm not real sure where I'm going with this paragraph... it's been a very long day. Everyone please to be pretending I said something funny and try not to mention the rainbow dildo the next time I see you.
*hugs*

Ok, the rest of the post was a very good fake, but what have you done with Teep?

*Obviously, this would be the kind where medical science rips out my old heart and drops in a whole new one. That'd be the only way I could possibly ever use the expression *hugs* without seriously ironic intent.
