So, in the interests of not being embarrassed at the thing, there is programmed exercise four or five nights a week. Right now it's a brisk effing hike, 4 miles, 16:47 minutes per mile, 67 minutes for the total outin. This does not sound like a very fast hike but it's got a solid damn hill in it, so that is part of the issue. Also I'm fat and not fit. This is effort #3. I can get this down to something more reasonable, but it takes work and time.
Bird fitness efforts
Jul. 23rd, 2023 12:58 pmHe's been doing really well with a five-or-six day a week schedule. I try to mix things up so that it's not all "sit n lift" every single day. My enthusiasm has been helped by Pretty Darn Good air quality, lower humidity, and not a ton of late afternoon rain. I've been getting a bunch of rides in.

Such a pretty time of year...
Apr. 30th, 2023 09:54 amEven in the (desperately needed) rain this is a gorgeous time of year. I was out yesterday playing barberry (the green-up is almost far enough along to make barberrying less easy) in the misty not-quite-rain and everything was just so many colors of green. It's beautiful. The dogwoods are holding on, drifts of horizontal white in the many many greens.

Certainly it's been nicer than LAST YEAR's February where I would have been typing this one-handed, which made for brevity but also was super frustrating because it wasn't even the smart hand. The weather is remarkably fit (50's (10's in C) is quite good for this time of year and it's only somewhat muddy instead of full-on mudtastic.

I have broken out the DownDog app once again so that soothing voice Sammi can tell me to Do The Things for 45 minutes every evening before bed. I am on the "super-beginner-slow" level because I am middle-aged and not-very-fit for yoga. (I do OK in my day-to-day with feed sacks and hay bales and furniture and appliances, but this does not translate all that well to yoga skills.) But I am trying.
