The real problem with Sundays is that the distance between thinking I would really like some no-bake cookies and actually being able to eat no-bake cookies (still warm and squishy) is about twenty minutes. *sigh*

In other news, I note with interest that the local sports team, which plays some sort of game with a non-spherical ball and a lot of protective gear (so it's not rugby) is apparently going to something called The Superbowl despite being supposed-to-lose last weekend (they didn't) and supposed-to-lose this weekend (they still didn't). In honor of this impending event, my local radio station has been playing the Steelers Here We Go song. While I rather think that they'd have quit playing it if the Steelers lost today's game, the Steelers did NOT lose today's game so I imagine I'm going to be hearing rather a lot of the damn song for the next week. It is quite possible that some of you in the audience have missed out on this song. Fortunately, it is being given away free on many interwebby fan site thingies so that those of you unlucky enough to not-live-here can still appreciate the delights of the Steelers Here We Go song. I downloaded my copy here. As topical ephemera go, it's not a badly-done fight song and it's fairly educational about the current cast of players for the Steelers. Broaden those horizons, people!

I have an entire CD of Stillers [1] songs with color commentary from Myron Cope [2] cut in between each song. Musical highlights include "Roethlisberger in Paradise" (set to the tune of "Cheeseburger in Paradise"), the "Here We Go" song (two versions), the "Behind the Music" spoof of the "Here We Go Guy," the Pittsburgh Steeler Polka (the "old" version, using the Super Steelers of the 70's), and just about every other Steelers-related song I could find from last year.

Roger Wood (the "Here We Go" guy) would be a fantastic name for a porn star. It does not appear (after a ...er... cursory search) to be taken.

I note the Steelers CD was especially effective in raising morale prior to the AFC Championship Game. It was either that or the Iron City. I will be sure to forward a copy of the Steelers CD to which_chick for her listening pleasure this week. It's a solid 80 minutes of pure black and gold.

For the record, everyone in my immediate circle of friends has been made aware that I would be willing to overturn the same-sex marriage prohibition in Pennsylvania if only Roethlisberger would agree to my marriage proposal(s). Unfortunately, the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County has entered an order that prohibits me from being within 1,000 of Mr. Roethlisberger, so he hasn't been able to reply to me. I'm sure that it is merely a misunderstanding and that his handlers are jealous of our mutual man-love, and that they fear my growing influence on him. Sort of a Yoko thing.

[1]"Steelers" translates to "Stillers" according to this website: http://www.pittsburghese.com/translator.shtml An example of a translated paragraph from above:

"Fer da record, everyone in my immediate circle of friends has been made aware that I would be willing to overturn da same-sex marriage prohibition in Pensivania if only Roethlisberger would agree to my marriage proposal(s). Unfortunately, da Court of Common Pleas of Al cahny has entered an order that prohibits me from being witin 1,000 of Mr. Roethlisberger, so he hasn't been able to reply to me. I'm sure that it is merely a misunderstanding n'at his hanlers are jealous of our mutual man-love, n'at they fear my growing influence on him. Sort of a Yoko ting."

[2] Myron Cope, for what it is worth, is a legend in Western PA, and I have a friend who can mimic him perfectly, which is useful since Myron retired prior to this year. His color commentary will never, ever be duplicated in today's corporate radio environment. Nobody like him would ever be allowed to get near a microphone today.
