In today's afghan progress, there was some knitting of a brown square (which we've seen before) and SIX SQUARES worth of weaving in ends (because I'd mentioned that would be a lot to do at once in the last update) and ONE washing-and-blocking of a square to finished dimensions.

In order to generate a bunch of squares that are all the same size, I also made a Blocking Board with DIMENSIONS (it's foam) and bought a selection of non-annoying pins (for pinning squares to board so that I can make all the squares the same size during blocking. They are nominally the same size but not exactly-ish enough for sewing together.

Here is a picture of the blocking board, deployed in its maiden voyage of blocking a square which is both moist and pinned in place like a dead butterfly.

And while I was doing pictures, I took a picture of the 2 white + 1 brown ply and included the 2 brown +1 white marl as well for comparison purposes.

Here they are:

The stupid scarf is in timeout because I'm mad at it and it needs to be more respectful of my feelings.

Later this evening I'm going to embark on experimental baby cheesecakes using the smash cake pans from a previous kitchen experiment. It's Lala birthday time and she gets a cheesecake for her birthday but also she's one person. One whole cheesecake is a lot for one person. If I made baby cheesecakes, that would be better because then they could be frozen and doled out over time.

And also I want to play with the silicon smash cake pans. So, yeah. That's a thing I'm going to do.

But cheesecake is soft and requires a springform pan. Smash cake pans are not springform! How are you going to get the cheesecake out of the silicone pans?

Parchment paper and the freezer, my sweet summer child. Be not afraid. Also, watch this space for updates on baby cheesecakes because I think that sounds like fun. The philly cream cheese is warming gently on the counter as I type.
