Some plant updates!
Jan. 26th, 2026 07:22 pmI'm waiting on a variety of orchid blooms, but here recently Wilsonara Space Mine Red Rendezvous has provided in the bloom department. Also, the pothos is looking... different now that it is a ways up the moss pole and equipped with its own sun.
This is Wilsonara SMRR:

No scent, but very cheerful bright colors in the depths of winter. So, I'm happy with him. Good job, SMRR!
(I have, fwiw, invested in some allegedly scented orchids that are still smol. Check back in a few years to see if I ever manage to bloom them, but for right now they are doing their very best, very orchid-typical Bwahahaha, I do not recognize your pot-based hegemony! I grown my roots ANYWHERE I WANT! activities with some new leaf/pseudobulb shoots as well. There's not a whole lot to see there, so... no pix for now.)
The pothos project is going along nicely. I'm starting to see some actual changes in the plant now that it's several leaf nodes up the pole. (And cut off from the starter plant, like, all it is growing from now is the moss pole. There's not even any dirt.)
First off, the leaves are getting bigger. Here's a picture:

Secondly, the plant's stems look different... more robust. Here's a pair of pictures for you to compare...
Just starting the pole project, the pothos stems are smooth and thinner:

Most recent stem segments, which are corrugate and more... robust-looking:

It's a little early to say for sure, but I am hopeful that this is working. Stay tuned!
I also sowed a batch of cactus seeds a few days ago and they have sprouted, super tiny little green balls. Go infant cacti! (I will probably murder about half of them through lack of skill.) Cactus seeds are not expensive and I typically source mine through Mesa Garden because they're easy to deal with and have a huge catalog.
