Neither of the two noticed the sky outside, where a large owl flapped noisily away. I am not certain that what I have done here is okay. 窓の外 is a direct object, but I'll be damned if I know what it is a direct object for. Neither verb is particularly transitive, at least not so's I noticed. It's late and I'm tired... could be I am not noticing worth a damn. I think the translation is close, though.
In other news, here is a picture of a frog I took this morning. The frog held still because it thought I was going to eat it. I did not eat the frog.
