There are lots of things that elude me. I have a lot of trouble telling faces apart. I get lost easily, even when going places I've been to sixty million times before. I can't carry a tune to save my soul. My art is... it'd have to improve to be "primitive". But there are some things I can do and one of them is the stupid ass "lock" puzzle that's going around on facebook like it's hard or something. It is not hard. A lot of people don't seem to know how to approach these puzzles, so Imma break it down for you, step by step.

This is the fucking puzzle. Woot.

Here is how you solve the fucking puzzle. Write down all the number clues.

6 8 2 One number right and in the right place
6 1 4 One number right but in WRONG place
2 0 6 Two numbers right, both in wrong places
7 3 8 All numbers wrong
3 8 0 One number right, in wrong place

Now read the clues. We're gonna start with "All Numbers Wrong" because that's a damn helpful clue.

Go through ALL THE NUMBERS LISTED and cross out EVERY 7, 3, and 8 you see. They are all the wrong number and they all need to be removed. Here, I have made them X's for you and crossed out the clue we've completed.

6 X 2 One number right and in the right place
6 1 4 One number right but in WRONG place
2 0 6 Two numbers right, both in wrong places
X X X All numbers wrong
X X 0 One number right, in wrong place

Now, we look at the clues to see if any further information has been revealed. The last clue says that 0 is a correct number, in the wrong place. There's no guessing. It's totally a 0 as one of the numbers. But it can't be the last digit because that's wrong. Do any other clues give us information about the 0?

Yes. The third clue says that that 0 can't also be in the middle place. So if the 0 can't be last or middle, it HAS TO BE FIRST. Now our "solution" looks like this: 0 X X and we can cross out some more information.

6 X 2 One number right and in the right place
6 1 4 One number right but in WRONG place
2 X 6 Two numbers right, both in wrong places ONE number right, in wrong place
X X X All numbers wrong
X X X One number right, in wrong place

Okay, so what we have now is tougher. Clue 1 says "one number right and in the right place" and it offers us a 6 or a 2. Clue 2 says "one number right and in wrong place" BOTH CLUE 1 and CLUE 2 lead with 6 in the first spot.

If 6 is the right number in the right place (clue 1) then clue 2 is false.
If 6 is the right number in the wrong place (clue 2) then clue 1 is false.

The clues are not false. So, 6 is not a right number. Erase all the 6's.

X X 2 One number right and in the right place
X 1 4 One number right but in WRONG place
2 X X Two numbers right, both in wrong places ONE number right, in wrong place
X X X All numbers wrong
X X X One number right, in wrong place

With the six's removed, we now look at clue 1 and can see that 2 is the last digit. Our solution now looks like this: 0 X 2

X X X One number right and in the right place
X 1 4 One number right but in WRONG place
X X X Two numbers right, both in wrong places * ONE number right, in wrong place
X X X All numbers wrong
X X X One number right, in wrong place

And now we're down to the final number. Our only remaining clue is "One number right but in the wrong place." Our solution is missing a middle number, so the "right number in the wrong place" has to be the four.

Solution: 0 4 2

I hope that this has helped.

I love logic puzzles! I've been playing mystery games with friends recently.
