Dec. 26th, 2004 03:28 pmOne of the things I got for xmas was a set of DVD-ized videos from when my dad videotaped things. This wasn't something I really wanted, at least not in a good way, but it was something I got, probably for reasons in line with the adage pain shared is pain halved. Ah, well. One of the videos could be titled Christmas, 1983. Glossing right the hell over the fact that that was twenty-one years ago, let's go right to the (somehow more bearable) fact that I was thirteen in 1983. The amount of painfully awkward I was at that age cannot be expressed in words.
What with the DVD-ized home videos, though, I am not restricted to words.
In honor of
ornery_chick's righteous essay about the selective view of themselves that people put on the internet, here is the awkward, unlovely, thirteen-year-old me, unwrapping a pair of Calvin Klein jeans which I was dead sure would make me one of the cool kids (~3.76 MB). Sorry for the pitiful image quality. It looks like a home video because it is a home video. I toyed with the idea of claiming there were technical difficulties with the sound, but honesty eventually won out.
Full disclosure: Having a pair of Calvin Klein jeans did not make me one of the cool kids.

Date: 2004-12-27 12:37 am (UTC)I wasn't in charge of the transfer to DVD but brother Roy says it is not a matter of extreme technological clue. If you're interested, I could get details from him on the process.

Date: 2004-12-27 02:31 am (UTC)Target's got some good underpants these days. It is their "own brand" called Formfit, and the elastic lays really, really flat, so you would have to be wearing chiffon trousers to get VPL!
