Ah, a weekend of busy.

Saturday I went to breakfast at the horse people's. Had Wave-Ohs for Matt's birthday. Took Te (one of the Ungrateful Babies) out for a solo spin with reins and bridle like a real horse. There was actual trotting and posting and turning and stopping. It was fine.

Following that triumph, I went home, made peanut brittle (for Halloween gifting), and realized I had forgotten to puchase cream for caramels. Damn it. Cream was ON THE GROCERY LIST and everything but apparently I fail shopping. Whatever. I delivered brittle to recipients and used the outing as an excuse to buy cream but then lost all motivation to make caramels. Now I have cream sitting in my fridge and nothing to do with it.

I mowed the lawn for the last time this year. Given how much I "enjoy" mowing, this was sort of a celebratory event in and of itself.

Saturday night was date night, so didn't get much else done.

Slept in on Sunday until 9:30 and then went to Burnt Cabins* Grist Mill (I'd never been. It's near the Fort Littleton exit on the PA Turnpike.) to do the buckwheat pancake breakfast and then check out GSR's tractors at the Fulton County Fairgrounds for the FFFF. Sam wanted to see the steam tractors, is why. That was fun, we got home about 4 in the afternoon from all the activities. Then I blanched and froze the rest of the collards from my mom's garden (they are awesome) and we went to Altoona to watch the Steelers game and eat bar food. The bar of choice was Al's (Hooters food is overpriced and yucky, we're trying to find a more palatable sports bar), which had an awesome Reuben (which we split) and pretty good wings (which we split) and sixteen beers on tap, one of which was Yuengling so I drank that.

*Burnt Cabins is actually the name of the place, It's not "Burned" Cabins. The settler's cabins were burnt by order of the government to appease the local Native American peoples.
