Jul. 24th, 2011 10:09 amThe tansy came out in weird and pale shades of greenish-yellow. Color me not impressed. Also, no photo for you. The cherry bark, however, came out in nice reddish browns.

At the bottom is a small hunk of plain, undyed white.
Next up is just the dyebath, which is a visible color but not real saturated. All the hanks were dyed in the dyebath at the same time. The darker shades come from the metallic modifiers afterward... they all started this color before I tweaked them.
Second up is a fairly minimal iron modifier (dye, then soak fairly briefly in the iron-y water obtained from the bad well at my house. It's also slightly acidic.)
The top is copper modifier made by putting water, a slosh of vinegar, and a teaspoon of salt into a gallon jug then sticking in ends of two copper wires and hooking the other ends up to a 9-volt battery until the water turned green.
So, y'know. Round one.
