Sometimes my takeaway item from an article is not particularly the takeaway item I am supposed to be getting from the article.

For example, this morning the NYT has an article on female desire here. And my takeaway item? (It will make way more sense if you just go read the damn article first. At least read the first page of the article. Please? Seriously, this won't work if you don't do that.



Lori Brotto's work on female desire, even in these our modern times, is still all about raisin consciousness. Hur, hur, hur.

(That joke is a whole lot funnier if you have seen a relatively unfamous movie of the early 80's called Serial, which apparently nobody but me and my family has ever seen. But we, we thought it was the funniest thing ever. It's got Christopher Lee in it as leader of a gay biker gang. )

It's an uneven effort with some exceedingly memorable lines. It's out on DVD, so probably is netflix-able.
