Wow, I've seen it before with a 3D animation, but not with an actual physical mask. It is seriously disturbing to know that it's a physical object and understand intellectually exactly what it's doing and be staring straight at the damn thing and still my visual bits will not see what is actually happening.

With the animation it's like the vase/face illusion, where you'll fixate on one but can choose see the other there, but with this I have no choice or control, which makes me want to get out the brain-drill. Deep breath.

On the plus side, your odds for not-being-schizophrenic are pretty good. Schizophrenic people (according to accompanying text) have no trouble seeing what is there but I guess they've got other problems.
