The weekend out went well. I made crepes of varying pronunciations (crepe rhymes with pep but also with grape, I guess) but no matter what they were called, they were yummy. I have leftover caramel sauce, which I think I wouldn't if I hadn't given people four choices of topping (apple-caramel, black raspberry, sour cherry, and peach). I did have about the right amounts of ingredients, though, and that was nice.

The pies (two) went swimmingly. Most folks ate theirs warm, with ice cream on it. I'm not a big fan of warm apple pie because it's all sloppy and runny inside and I'd rather have lovely, sedimentary layers of firmly-packed apple goodness instead. I prefer my pie lukewarm and I don't trash the (gorgeous) crust by dumping ice cream on top of it. That, however, is just me -- others do as they will with the pie. It's not like I can't have pie any time I want. I am the pie factory. I do not have to go to weekends out with friends so that someone can make me a pie.

Roy's wobble board got tried out by nearly everyone, to a reasonable amount of amusement.

I made a lot of headway on my knitting and taught Cora (Cousin Sue's older daughter) to knit because I'm of a compatible handedness and Cousin Sue is not. Cora seemed quite pleased with the knitting and she made a very solid effort, for not being a grownup yet. She did inform us that she was not a child, she was a preadolescent. (She is, I think 11.)

We also took a walk along the Lehigh Canal walkway thingie, which was a nice outing. It's a good, reasonably-level place to walk and we were not the only folks out on a sunny November Sunday afternoon. What remains of the lock structures is pretty interesting stuff and it's got waterfalls, which is never a bad thing. The Lehigh River (next to the canal, kinda) is bigger (wider) than I thought it was but apparently not very deep. It looks watercraft-navigable, though. Hrm.

Crazy! I found out about the almiqui on Pharyngula too... in fact, it's what got me hooked on Pharyngula in the first place. Don't worry -- I'm not really a field biologist! I just happened to be taking a field biology course when I started the LJ, and the name stuck. :)

If it's good writing you're after, I have a friend who does gorgeous poetry & prose on her journal. I should ask her permission before I lead you to it, but I'm sure you can find it just by skimming the "friends" page!

Your last few entries have been great fun to read; I'm glad to have you on my friendlist. A toast to internet madness, then! On the web, nobody knows you're an insectivore. ;)
