Mar. 28th, 2007 06:40 pmI made bread the other day, a pair of whole-wheat loaves with some honey in 'em. Boy, are they tasty. And then, I got to thinking.
Most people buy their bread, if they eat bread. I don't buy much bread and don't remember the last time I purchased a ready-made loaf of the stuff. (This would not be the case if I lived near a bakery that did good bread.) I either make my own or do without. This is not to say that my bread is perfect. It's not perfect. It's tasty and makes good toast ("Toast" is a favorite snack when I have bread, which is not all the time.) but the real selling point is that I know what the hell is in it. The most-recent batch contains flour, water, yeast, salt, and honey. Those are the ingredients. There aren't any other ingredients. That's kind of refreshing, really
In other news, camera is not here yet. I'm considering telling Amazon to ship stuff as it becomes available because I'm tired of waiting. (Not one for delayed gratification, I know.)
While plowing through Season 2 of The Wire (On loan from mom. I am rooting for Omar. He's a hottie. Also Stringer Bell, another total hottie.) I am working on the HoHI, which have about an inch of pattern done on one and about four rounds of pattern done on the other one. I'm catching the second one up to the first and then it will be time for the first decrease. Yay! (I know that this is very exciting stuff.) The HoHI are much more pleasing in their new incarnation with exciting stripey ribbing. Much more pleasing.
