I made bread the other day, a pair of whole-wheat loaves with some honey in 'em. Boy, are they tasty. And then, I got to thinking.

Most people buy their bread, if they eat bread. I don't buy much bread and don't remember the last time I purchased a ready-made loaf of the stuff. (This would not be the case if I lived near a bakery that did good bread.) I either make my own or do without. This is not to say that my bread is perfect. It's not perfect. It's tasty and makes good toast ("Toast" is a favorite snack when I have bread, which is not all the time.) but the real selling point is that I know what the hell is in it. The most-recent batch contains flour, water, yeast, salt, and honey. Those are the ingredients. There aren't any other ingredients. That's kind of refreshing, really

In other news, camera is not here yet. I'm considering telling Amazon to ship stuff as it becomes available because I'm tired of waiting. (Not one for delayed gratification, I know.)

While plowing through Season 2 of The Wire (On loan from mom. I am rooting for Omar. He's a hottie. Also Stringer Bell, another total hottie.) I am working on the HoHI, which have about an inch of pattern done on one and about four rounds of pattern done on the other one. I'm catching the second one up to the first and then it will be time for the first decrease. Yay! (I know that this is very exciting stuff.) The HoHI are much more pleasing in their new incarnation with exciting stripey ribbing. Much more pleasing.

Mmm, I love homemade bread. I used to bake it from scratch, knead/rise/knead rise/bake, but now I cheat...I have a breadmaker. I still control what goes in it, though!

I am eating bread this week. Not homemade, unfortunately. Wheat was the least firmly implicated of Peter's problems, so it is the one we add back into the mix to see if he reacts.

Want to see the new HoHI!

Need to answer your email. Whenever the baby is asleep, my brain is dead. I only think in the shower.

I will have HoHI pictures when I get a little more done on 'em. I'm making a concerted effort to progress on the HoHI for Maryland Sheep and Wool. It's very motivational even though I might not make it (lots of knitting to crank out in a month). People at Md S&W are the kind of people who would look at the HoHI and inquire as to where I got them.

Tonight's activity is Martin Chuzzlewit (or however it's spelled) Part 2 (Yay Netflix!) so there will be massive knitting during that.

Tonight, I watched all the second half of the movie, which ended very gratifyingly. I was going to throw things at the screen if Old Mr. Chuzzlewit didn't whup up on the slimeball and reward his grandson and ward for being halfway decent people. Fortunately, Mr. Dickens did not disappoint on that front. Good for him. (I think he makes better movies than novels, honestly. I may have to sign up for more BBC efforts with my Netflix.)

On the knitting front, there are now four inches of socks -- two of that is corrugate ribbing -- just a hair more than one half run of motif and immediately past the first round of decreases. :) Feel the excitement. Woo!
