which_chickAsh trimmed Meat's and Nick's feet today and I contributed thirty-five dollars to the boy's drinking fund. :) Nick wasn't terrible and Meatly was very well behaved, so that all went pretty well.
Interestingly, I discovered that Liss thinks I'm a nasty drunk, which generally I am not. She based this on one observation of me not-drunk and being thrown over a railing by La's husband Michael at Theron's wedding reception some ten years ago. (And how does that make ME nasty? I was the one GETTING thrown over the railing, damn it all.) Generally I'm either happy or maudlin when drunk. Nasty isn't something I need a chemical excuse to manage. I can do that just fine all by my lonesome and I was, in point of fact, managing it just fine and dandy halfway through my first wine cooler (only thing I'd had to drink at the time) when Michael smashed my cigarettes for no apparent reason, totally mushed half a pack that he'd taken out of my shirt pocket, and told me that I really should quit smoking. Being right about something and siding with the health nazis and so forth does not mean you're allowed to wantonly destroy people's property. I took exception and that was where the railing business happened. And now I'm a nasty drunk. WHAT-evah.
I also went shopping at Wal Mart and did my part to generate a wardrobe for Amsterdam that totally does not resemble my normal clothing. Ten years from now, anyone looking at the vacation pictures is going to go "Damn, that looks like Jessica, but she doesn't dress like that at all. Who's the chick?" I do not own any casual clothing that does not fall into one or more of the following unsuitable categories:
1. Has paint on it
2. Has holes in it
3. Advertises something
4. Made of sweatpant material
5. Stained with something that is not paint
6. Shows visible wear such as threadbare-ity or tattered edges
Hence the shopping.
