Apr. 12th, 2006 08:56 pmMan, once I get out of the habit of writing things in here, it's a bitch to get back in the habit -- but since there is an adoring public, or something that could pass for same in poor lighting, I will press on. Grandma visits resumed this evening -- they'd been foregone on the grounds that if the virus could make thirty-six year old me feel like complete and utter shit, it would probably lay low the grandma. I didn't read because my voice is still kind of froggy but I did knit and watch Jeopardy and so forth like that. I also took grandma some of her daffodils. Grandma likes daffodils a whole lot and we don't ever buy her the shitty ones in February to support whatever thing it is that sells them @ ten for five dollars. That's just highway fucking robbery. There is no way we are paying five dollars for ten shitty-looking daffodils. However, come the actual season for daffodils, when they're blooming in a (free!) happy bolden yellow mass of springtime profusion, I figure she should have as many daffodils as anyone could reasonably want -- enough to make the sun shine indoors. So, I cut her an assload* of daffodils on my way in this evening. She was pleased to have them.
*I know that the enquiring minds among you are now considering what an assload is and how many daffodils it might contain. For you intrepidly literal-minded sorts, I offer the following helpful hint: goatse

No, it has no goatse.cx pictures, although I believe that there are links. There is the classic Time cover from September 20, 2004:

That certainly gives one the feel for the thing. The position of the thumbs is the critical element, imho.
RIP, goatse.cx. May you live on in mirrors and the Wayback Machine.

Date: 2006-04-13 12:38 pm (UTC)When I left, my mom spent a few minutes refreshing the bouquet--pulling out the dead flowers, trimming the remaining stems, refreshing the water, etc--and I gave them to the new lady on the other side of the curtain.
Flowers are very cheering when you're in hospital.
Glad you're feeling better!
