Apr. 1st, 2006 05:15 pmThe berry and pie dough thing referenced in previous post? R0xx0r. I still do not like the way that the New Transfat-Free Crisco makes pie dough as compared to the old, bad, 100% Transfat Crisco. The Transfat-Free dough is more fragile. It cracks easily. It doesn't have the elasticity and pliability of the transfat pie dough. Of course, transfat pie dough kills on contact, so probably we're stuck with the Transfat-Free kind even though it isn't anywhere near as easy to work with. Buggerit.
I would feel entirely better about this whole situation if the nice people at Crisco didn't keep acting like the new Crisco is just the same as the old Crisco. It isn't. I wish they'd admit it... but I imagine that nobody over at Crisco is rushing to write ad copy like this: This here is our New Transfat-Free Crisco. It won't kill you dead like our previous 100% Transfat Crisco product but it doesn't make as friendly a pie dough. It tastes okay and all, but it's not as nice to work with. We all here at Crisco hope all ya'll will accept the trade-off of usability for health and please not to be suing us for making the old kind of 100% Transfat Crisco for all those years when nobody knew it was bad for you. We wouldn't have mentioned the not suing thing at all but we just got a sympathy card from the asbestos industry...
