which_chickTwo hours of DDREx2 this morning.
My uncoordinated ass and I are still on the grandma level in dance master mode though we have done all of the beginner and normal-people lessons with success in lesson mode. I've also passed all the lessons except for the end one in for advanced. They were most helpful though I am not sure why they expected eighth notes to be a troublesome concept. (I was in my high school marching band and, while I dance like an uncoordinated white girl, I can mark time, clap rhythms, and otherwise follow along in a cadenced environment.) Staying 'on the beat' is not a problem for me -- I have other areas of difficulty, but not that one.
I've been doing the freeplay songs in beginner level -- I can get to the end of them without dying AND score grades above C. Clearly, they are not that difficult for me, so I started picking through the list on "light" (the next level after beginner) to find two feet (the songs are ranked in difficulty by how many feet they are -- beginner songs are one foot difficult) songs. I need better grades on 'em, but I can get through them about half the time with one or two goes. (That'd be total goes. Like go once, first time ever seeing the song, go twice, get through without dying.) Three feet songs currently kick my ass and are going to require some improvement on my part before I can do them successfully. I also want to go back and sharpen up my grades on the beginner level songs because I need to work on accuracy. Simply not-dying is good but getting them all perfect would be better.
Current areas of difficulty: Fighting the desire to put feet back in the middle when there is no reason to do so. Sight-reading and planning ahead so's to have the appropriate foot available. (This game would be a lot easier if I had a spare foot...) Avoiding the desire to rush the beat on slow songs. Stringing together combinations while alternating feet in a harmonious and not-falling-over sort of way. Recovering after blowing a combination... picking up the song again is hard.
I have not yet examined The Bible Game and I have been informed that I had better look at it before tomorrow because my adoring public (the one who bought me the aforementioned game) wants to hear about how that goes. I informed that member of the adoring public that I was a Godless Heathen (tm) and that I didn't really expect to do too well on The Bible Game. The adoring public thinks otherwise. At least one of us is strong in his faith.
