I cleaned a bunch of crap out of TA15 today. That's where we got rid of what we'll call Heather and Friends. Heather was our tenant. The other people living there were not on the lease. Anyway, we evicted Heather and her friends. They knew they were being evicted because, while nobody ever expects the Spanish Inquisition, it's pretty hard to have a surprise eviction...



For those of you who are rent-paying persons, it works like this. The landlord has a beef with a tenant. Usually this is because the tenant isn't paying any rent, but sometimes it's because the tenant is leaving her strung-out druggie friends laying in the yard and upsetting the other tenants with druggie noise at all hours. As a result, the landlord files a complaint against the tenant with the local JP. Filing the complaint costs around a hundred dollars (130.00 in Bedford, 110.00 in Everett). The JP schedules a hearing, which usually takes place ten days or so from the date of filing. After the hearing, there are ten full days. You cannot go in on Day 10 -- it has to be Day 11 or later. After the ten days, on the next BUSINESS day, there is the filing of the order for possession. That costs $150.00. The constable schedules a possession and the tenant gets notified (in writing) when that will be. The order for possession takes ten days after the tenant gets notified. On the appointed day, the constable goes to the apartment and there is a changing of the locks and a posting of the notice and a throwing out of the tenant.

Sometimes, there are tenants who believe that this cannot happen to them despite the fact that they've gotten official notices for the hearing, the results of the hearing, the order for possession, and the scheduled date of the possession. They are wrong.

For you today, I have a spiral bound notebook with the name Brittany S. Mellott on the front of it. It was left behind when the constable came and continued to be left behind during the three afternoons when Heather and Friends were schlepping their stuff out of the apartment from which they had been evicted. (Saved me from having to carry it out, is why. Saved me from having to store it.) It was left behind when I asked the tenants if there was anything else that they wanted from the apartment... and now it's mine.

(I was sort of shocked to see that the author of these lists (the handwriting all looks the same) was still drawing a line between regular kissing and open-mouth kissing. I wonder if Kaleb and Clay Barthalow are brothers; she fucked and kissed them both (how do you fuck someone 1/2 time? I guess one or the other of them didn't get off) but didn't like Clay enough to go down on him, even though she fucked him more.

Fucking is less personal than giving head, yes, and fucking someone gives you a chance to ummm... check out the personal hygeine before committing oneself to something that might be *gross*.

So was this Brittany S. Mellott one of the druggie friends or one of the tenants? That's a sort of sad document there. I mean she's only 16.

I don't know if the Barthalows are brothers. I assume they are, but I don't actually have any data on that. It's not an uncommon name where I live.

I also wondered about the 1/2 time. Perhaps someone more clueful than I am can help us out with that...?

I do not know for certain that these lists were written by Brittany S. Mellott. I also do not know for certain that Brittany S. Mellott is sixteen now or was at the time these lists were written. If I were a betting man, that's the way I'd bet, but I do not know for certain. I do know that all of the lists are in what appears to be the same, rounded, girly-illiterate handwriting that I know and love from my experience with it in high school.

The actual tenant was Heather Mellott -- she was the only person listed on the lease. (All people living in the apartment are to be listed on the lease.) She gave the impression, prior to renting the apartment, that there would also be an unrelated roommate person. I do not know if the roommate person ever made an appearance as an actual resident or not.

At the time we threw Heather out, the people who seemed to be living there were Heather, her father, and at least one of her sisters. Brittany, who was one of Heather's sisters, lived there for a time before being sent up to some rehab facility near State College, this information I have because her father shared it with me while I was waiting for him to move stuff out of the apartment.
