which_chickThe hat project is complete except for blocking (making a knitted wool garment wet and gently putting it in the shape it is to have for life so that it can dry that way and get used to the way of things. If this were a sweater, I'd have done the blocking thing before sewing up the sweater, but as this is a hat I could have (mostly) made out of one piece of string, there is no sewing up and therefore blocking is going to happen at the very end.) which I think will flatten out the ear flaps somewhat from their currently rounded old-fashioned football helmet orientation.
Note for the record that I completely, totally, entirely hate pictures of myself. Always. For any reason. The only reason you are getting pictures of me is because I'm pretty damn happy with how the hat project turned out and, unfortunately, you cannot appreciate the niftyness of the hat project without seeing it on my damn head. So, y'know, pictures.
It's not helpful to point out that I don't look that bad -- is that faint praise I hear? I'll be damned... so it is. It's also not helpful to ask what I don't like or what I think is wrong. Most everything, thanks. I like my shoulders and I think my hair is greying attractively. I've got surprisingly good legs, too, but that doesn't do me much good for a hat picture. Other than that, no. I don't like much of anything. Anyway, this is not the time or the place to discuss my huge and massive self-image issues. Let us not go there. We are please to be looking at the hat, for things like fit (it does) and technique (stunning).
Hat is not as purple as it appears in these pictures. It's more blue.
