Over the weekend, I worked on the afghan project as well as the stupid scarf for my mom.

I also drove Dad to the airport so that he could fly to his Mexico house. He fucked up the hotel reservation date (set for Sunday instead of Saturday) and did it through the no-refund, no modify settings on Expedia so he has to pay twice for the room, one for the night he actually used (Saturday) and one for the night he didn't use (Sunday). I asked him if he wanted help making the reservation and he was all Nope, I got it. I feel that this refrain is going to be more and more frequent in my life.

No, he ain't got it and his work needs to be checked. Hello, and welcome to my mental load.

*sigh*

Driving him to the airport took five hours of my Saturday.

But anyway. Here's the stupid scarf, which is totally pissing me off already. This is ONE SKEIN OF YARN. ONE. There was a fucking knot in the skein, which is irritating, so I cut the knot and left long ends for the yarn that I can weave in so that there are not KNOTS in my fucking knitting. But, joy of joys, they changed dye lots or whatever (this is "reclaimed kimono silk yarn" so maybe it doesn't have dye lots) AT THE KNOT and you can 100% see that. IT IS THE SAME SKEIN OF YARN and changes dye lots. Fuck me, that's totally unfair.

And now I'm pissed. Who changes dye lots MID SKEIN? Asshats. Now I have a dye-lot-change project that isn't even my fucking fault.

Geez, which-chick, that's pretty fucking obvious. Why didn't you quit with that after about three rows and look through the other balls for something that matched the first huge chunk of knitting?

Because I'm Cleopatra and kept telling myself that it wasn't that bad and would totally blend in once I got a few more rows done.

Lol. Also, fuck.

I also spun up a bunch of the white roving and plied it into a two-ply yarn. I knitted a small sample with it and I don't... love it. It's a little finer than the brown (which came pre-spun from NYR's mom's stash) and doesn't make the same gauge when knit. Still thinking about what I want to do now, but here is a picture of my work:

I also finished the second square of the brown wool and started the third, though there is not a picture of that. Third square is about a quarter done.

Current knitting television is Homeland. (I quit Weeds right about the same time as last time I watched it, which was when they moved in with grandpa at the beach.) I like Claire Danes from My So-Called Life, is why.

ARGH!
Both versions of that purple are lovely - but they are NOT THE SAME at all!

Well, it is only bad if you are planning to wear it in human social settings. The horses won't care out at the barn!!! But it is not nice that it happened.
I had a huge ball of multi colored yarn this fall that I croched into a scarf. Not only did it have a join, it had multiple joins. Each time it picked up in a different place in the pattern of alternating colors. One section was backwards... It is too bad, it was nice yarn, but way, way too much hassle to buy again.

augh what a color change! Both nice colors but definitely very noticeable. The white looks like some solid 2 ply yarn to me, but if it isn't what you were aiming for, that stinks!
