Saturday: Walked 4 miles with Trys out the road and back. Moved hay for the ponies for the week. Went up town and picked up pig feed. Unloaded the pig feed when I got back to Laur's. The pig feed comes in hundred pound bags that are somehow way worse than hundred pound bags of sweet feed in terms of their luggability. Not a fan.

Went home for lunch and... did nothing else all day but water the plants and look at the plants and read assorted parts of the internet. Until evening, when I did yoga with Lala. (We're yoga-ing again on the super beginner level, 25 minutes, 3 times a week.) I suck at yoga. Fuck dancer's pose.

Sunday: Walked 2 miles with Trys (just the uphill part of the road.) and then went over to feed the ponies. Chatted with Lala a bit, went home, got the reciprocating saw and cut out the trail for next weekend's old lady trail outing, got the splitter and went up and split about half of the big red oak that came down in a storm last year (plus filming for the insta). Moved the quarters (not lightweight) down to my house and stacked them for the winter. I still have half a tree to do but wow, the rounds are big. I started at the upper end and they were like 22" diameter rounds. The ones at the base are like 26" diameter. These are NOT small logs.

The difference between 22" diameter logs and 26" diameter logs is a lot bigger than 4" bigger. You are probably underestimating how much bigger a 26" diameter log is than a 22" diameter log but fortunately I know how to do maths to make this clearer for you.

We can compare the relative sizes of 16" logs (all logs are cut to 16" lengths) by looking at the cross-sectional area.

Area of 22" diameter logs is 11 squared times pi. Roughly, 380 sq. inches.
Area of 26" diameter logs is 13 squared times pi. Roughly, 530 square inches.

That's a 40% bigger log. 40% bigger!

Did you guess "40% bigger"? No, no you did not. That's why we did this little detour into math.

I'm now doing laundry and hanging out but I am really tired. It was a busy weekend.
