Jan. 6th, 2005 11:03 amThe price of celebrity is normality. The reason celebrities get paid so well is because giving up normality don't come cheap. No sane person would live in a fucking celebrity fishbowl for 30K a year. The more famous you are, the less of a normal life you get to have. I don't know why Eminem thinks this is news. (I've been listening to The Eminem Show.)
I got the first coat of polyurethane on the dining room table last night. I've got to pick up 220 grit sandpaper today so that I can sand, wipe down, and recoat this evening as per the directions on the can. The table surface looks surprisingly good at one coat, though, so I am optimistic about the quality of the finished job. There may even be pictures, but if there are, I will expect everyone to say nice things about the finish on the table and quietly ignore the clutter that may be visible elsewhere in the picture.
Speaking of finished jobs, I have got to get back on the doily project. I'll put that on the list... it's just that I've been so adult and efficient on other fronts that I should get a bye on that front this time around.
Also, I ran into an online comic worth a look the other day. Sea of Insanity sucked me through two years of strips in fairly short order and moved me to bookmark it for coming back later when I had time to finish. The art is quite passable but the dialogue is where it really shines.
Finally, brother Roy had me stop by last night to evaluate how split his lip was. It had stopped bleeding, but I thought stitches were a good idea -- he had one hell of a gaping wound there. I'm reasonably certain I was asked to stop by for an actual second opinion instead of a gross-out-the-sister opportunity. I don't gross out easily... but that was some yuck. Ewww.
