Jun. 19th, 2011 02:35 pmGot Whimsy (project horse, which constant readers may or may not recall) back in the big field today. Project horse work starts Monday. Today we reviewed leading in hand, picking up feet, being saddled, trotting in hand, and basic circle work. (A "project horse" is an unbroken horse that I am taking to the competitive ride, like Callie a couple of years ago. I don't own project horses nor do I love them. They are projects.)
I've also dusted off my spinning wheel (trip to The Mannings was very motivational) and gotten moving on that front. Sam would like a hat, so I am investigating appropriately manly hat designs. He'll get a selection of pre-approved designs to pick from and then hat construction will proceed forthwith. Hat will be out of the very nice cushy brown border leicester that I made into yarn some years ago. (In early 2008, mostly. Thank you grep -H "leicester" /home/jessica/ljbackup/* | more, so very helpful.) Patterns for the hat are being selected from the freebie toque-like hats on Ravelry. Some of them are quite manly and should probably meet with his approval.
Kobe is still hated by Youbee, hops on the keyboard too much, and is generally an annoying little shit. Kittens are like that. On the plus side, he plays with the ball-n-scratch pad cat toy that has never once appealed to Youbee. Nor didn't like it either.

That's pretty much the choices for hats. k3, p2 ribbing seems very popular for hats. I had not realized, prior to thumbing through all the options, how very gendered hat patterns were.
I *can* do cables and shit, but he will not wear them, so there's no point to offering them as options.
