which_chickYesterday 1.8 miles up the hill, 20 lbs in weight. 39 minutes, but kind of entertaining anyway. I need a backpack, I do. Plans for shopping on that front have been laid for Saturday.
Progress on the chocolate front has been significant. Of the proposed flavors, the following are now complete and chillaxing in my freezer, awaiting the day: coconut, coconut-n-lime, peanut butter, chocolate truffle. Of the two remaining flavors (caramel and caramel-with-peanuts), both have been made and rolled. The with-peanuts one has been sliced and is ready to dip. The plain caramel will have to be slightly thawed before it will slice instead of break. I made the caramels for inside-chocolate slightly less-sweet (more caramelized) and softer (cooked to a lower final temperature) than caramel that is for just straight-up eating. We'll see how that goes.
The chocolates have been color-coded with royal-icing decorations to prevent the horse people from scraping off small parts of the chocolate coating to determine what sort of filling is inside each chocolate. This would not horrify me nearly so much except that they then apparently were in the habit of putting the mangled chocolates *back* if they contained unacceptable nougat-ish fillings. ('Take the one you touched' is the rule that sways / For assorted chocolates and wedding days.)
Which reminds me, a long time ago I wrote some truly awful poetry, doggerel really, involving A Midsummer Night's Dream (the play by Shakespeare) and characters from Gundam Wing (an anime about giant fighting robots and politics and crap, largely famous to me for the hideous number of suprisingly well-written English-language homoerotic fanfics it generated on the internets). It was funny to me at the time and remains so.
