Nov. 22nd, 2004 04:25 pmWent to the landlord-tenant complaint hearing today. The District Justice that we don't like found for us, d'oh, because we have a lease and they signed the lease and they allowed as how they'd pay the rent and they ain't paid any rent. Landlord-tenant complaints are not usually rocket science. He awarded us the deposit and adjusted the amount due downward that amount (so, they owed us like $560.00 and the deposit was $360.00 so he said the judgment was for $200.00), which was annoying. So what are we supposed to do about any damages that might be there? Hello? Bueller? Do we get a security deposit? This is an ongoing area of unhappiness with the District Justice and I'm not allowed to raise a stink about it on behalf of the businesses.
I also went and looked at the kitchen in one of our empty apartments. It needs to be redone. Actually, all of the interior walls need to be redone -- they're lath and horsehair plaster (it's an old building) and they look like hell. Drywall would look a lot better, even drywall finished by us. I also looked at the bathroom, and I think tiling the shower area would be a good first step and certainly worth the time it would take to do it.
I've run some preliminary numbers on the grand plan and they look... worth investigating further. I've sent them along to the rest of the cabal for feedback and reassurance that this is a direction in which we should be moving. We shall see.
