May. 18th, 2004 09:07 amあのポッター一家のことが誰かに知られてしまったら一巻の終わりだ。

If anyone ever found out about the Potter family, it'd be all over. I redid the diagram for this one because I got halfway through and didn't know what to do with 誰かに知られてしまったら. Looking at it more closely, I decided that the whole front part of the thing was an If-clause (that's the られてしまったら verb ending thingie) and that the primary main structure of the sentence was 一巻の終わりだ. I could be wrong on this, but it went together in the diagram a hell of a lot better than my first attempt. This diagramming thing is actually pretty helpful for figuring out where parts of the sentences go.
I've noticed that my personal preference is to put the primary, independant clause on the bottom of the diagram. I am pretty sure that traditional diagrams have the independant clause at the top and all the other crap down below it. Yeah, well. If I can't do what I want, then there is hardly any point here, is there? I will try to be consistant and I'll point out the weird or atypical things I am doing as and when they become apparent so that all ya'll faithful readers (er. Not that there are any.) can follow along.
No mowing of the lawn today... it's raining like a cow pissing on a flat rock out there. Perhaps tomorrow.
