Except for the bear and where I got the truck-n-trailer stuck in the pasture this morning, the horse outing went pretty well.

Cass and I went out to go horse this morning. I picked her up at 6:30 am. I actually got the IRH caught in short order, which was something of a surprise. However, when I went to turn the pickup truck and trailer around in the field, I got stuck on the sopping wet grass. Oops. Liss came out and saved me. I've made a note to, in the future, have the trailer pre-turned-around for me by people who are better at it than I am.

We got to Lynn Ann's house without wrecking or breaking the truck. We actually had a lovely ride until we were on the top of the mountain, heading toward Pittman road, about a mile left to go. That's when we saw the bear. The bear was in the middle of the blue gravel road. It saw us and kind of wandered off into the woods. We kept heading forward until we saw the bear in the woods, coming toward us. Then we turned around and took up a deliberate medium trot and trotted down the road away from the bear. Although the horses were slightly worried, we did not get eaten by the bear. We did wind up doing two miles less than we'd hoped to do, though.

Cass's first go with the bell boots worked well. Casper's feet are as they were the last time we rode and she goes sound on them.
