The weekend was chock full of stuff.

Saturday, I got up in plenty of time to head to Philly for the somewhat belated fourth of July party at Chez Matt. I was all organized and packed and ready to go with my covered dish stuff all set. As I was getting ready to leave, I went to take out the trash and the bag of trash split at the bottom and spilled out all over the floor. Ick, but I was equipped with acres of time for issues, so no biggie. I cleaned that up, loaded the car, grabbed my cellphone off of the charger by the door, and put my wallet... put my wallet... put my... fuck.

Okay, I was a machine of organized on-time-ness right up until I discovered that I couldn't find my wallet. I looked in the house. I looked in the pockets of last week's pantses (conveniently located on the hallway floor). I looked in my car. I looked in Dad's truck. I looked in Dad's Mercedes. (There had been some shuffling of vehicles on Friday, see, so it wasn't certain which vehicle I'd left my shirt in.) I looked in the house again. No wallet. After a pretty solid hour of unproductive twinking around, I determined that my wallet was in the front pocket of my plaid shirt which was on the front seat of my green pickup truck which was at the shop in Bedford. Bedford is twenty-odd miles from my house, exactly the wrong way to get to Philly. Every iota of the toward-Bedford trip would be negative miles to Philly. At that point, my machine of organization made a worrisome clunk and started leaking oil all over the floor.

I did, eventually, get to the Philly event in spite of the fact that La'd taken the IRH up to the fairgrounds to do Horsemanship Skills Testing for Cass and called me to let me know that she'd be there all day if I wanted to come pick on her in an enclosed location with good footing. (This is a very alluring invite.) I was like "Nope, La, gotta go to Philly." Anyway, the thing in Philly was very relaxed and nice, but it ran kind of late and I'd had quite a few mojitos so I spent the night on Matt's couch (very comfy) and drove home early early the following morning. I got back here at around nine in the morning and headed over to La's to see if we could work in some horse activity.

We did work in horse activity. We drove over to Lynn Ann's house and went up and down the mountain there. That went quite well, though it was hot and sticky and the damn gypsy moths are out doing their thing. They don't even have the decency to wait for the cover of darkness like proper moths. No, they're out there in totally broad fucking daylight. Evil little shits. Anyway, we hosed the horses down when we were done (which they took pretty well, really) and hauled them home. I talked to Lynn Ann some about the horse book (which I have to locate this morning) and about her daughter's pictures (which I'm supposed to go over and pick up on Thursday so that I can drag them to York to show my aunt Charlotte on Friday). We cleaned out the horse trailer (the new mats make that super-easy) and then I picked green beans in the garden b/c Hazel doesn't think I get enough vegetables.

For the people who've asked (again) about the Black Bean and Corn Salad recipe, I posted about it a while ago. It's here
