For the confused... in the previous post where I wrote I can eats houseplant?, I didn't write it that way because I am an unlettered redneck. Quite the contrary. I am a lettered redneck. When I do stuff like that, there's a reason. When you do it, it's wrong. When I do it, it's technique. Now that we're all clear on THAT...



Cats, as recent internet research has uncovered, speak Almost-English using a grammar that is not quite entirely unlike ours. For some reason (possibly something to do with their slitty pupils and their visual acuity), they write in dreadful large white fonts... and they've started posting.

So. LOLCats.

LOLCats are funny on their own, sort of like modern-day "Hang In There, Baby!" posters. It's a lukewarm sort of funny, I guess, but there you are. It's better than upskirt crotch shots of Britney, innit?

More funny, way more funny, than the fact that LOLCats exist as a meme is the fact that people are writing kind of interesting (sometimes sorta-scholarly) articles ABOUT LOLCats. I think this is absolutely hysterical.

For real, the articles surrounding the lingua franca of LOLCats are the most amusing part about LOLCats.

Well, this is probably honestly the most amusing thing, really, but that's because everything is funnier in Middle English. Even LOLCats.

Okay, that last link trumps the UTube video I posted earlier today as the funniest thing I've seen in weeks. But that's mainly because I wrote my honor's thesis on Chaucer and had to learn to read Middle English while doing it. (I have, I will admit, forgotten most of it over the years). But I remember enough that I found the page hysterical.
