May. 29th, 2007 11:54 pmI hereby nominate PotC 3 for Having A Really Great Ending.
Saw the movie. Now going to talk about the movie, mostly the ending. If you don't want to read that, you might want to mouse for the BACK button right about now.
I have long thought that Elizabeth was totally and completely wrong at the end of PotC 1 when she allowed as how Will was a pirate. Will Turner is not a pirate. He's a good guy, a responsible guy, a guy who keeps his word. Not, y'know, the definition of pirate. He could maybe do pirating for a while but it'd wear at him because that's just not the cut of his jib.
Having Will take over the running of the Dutchman and shepherd the souls of the dead to the next world (to avoid his untimely death) was an absolutely great idea. Yeah. Will would be good at that. He'd do it without being cruel or demeaning to his crew. He'd do it without shirking or being dumb enough to let the East India Company wind up with his heart. And he'd do it as long as Miss Swan (now Mrs. Turner) was waiting for him on the beach every ten years. She can spend the intervening years off being-a-pirate, which she'll probably like better than keeping house anyway.
Also mad propz for the green flash (which is real but not as exciting in real life as it was in the movie).
