Dec. 22nd, 2018 07:15 amBird for a spin yesterday after work. It had been drizzling lightly most of the afternoon without actually committing to rain and I skived off early from work (3:00) so that there'd be enough daylight left on the shortest day for me to take a spin on the pony. Fed Bird and Tin and The Ladies. (Cuervo didn't settle -- we finally got the pregnancy test back -- and I'm not sure what Laur's going to do about her given the ERU blindness issue but for the moment she's in Skoal's old pen with Whimsy, who is also blind. They are The Ladies and I look in on them when I'm there feeding the boys.) It was still drizzling but I am a man, not a mouse, so I groomed (smeared the mud around) Bird and threw a bareback pad on him (he is not a fan of the bareback pad) and hopped aboard with, well, a little startle but not much.
And then, before I could get out the driveway, the heavens opened. The light drizzle, which had been, was no more. Instead there was a heavy rain of the sort more suited to a late August afternoon than a winter solstice afternoon. Buggerit. So I went across the road and down into the holler and back up and home again. It was not a very lengthy ride, but it was a ride.
