Well, hell. New Orleans is still there, a bit damp, but still there. On the other hand, hurricane season ain't over yet. We'll see.

Kind of a quiet day at work today. Tenant Michelle V. got the letter telling her that we are not renewing her lease. She's apparently looking for new housing. According to Joyce over at Housing, Michelle apparently thinks that we are not renewing her lease because the police have been to her apartment too often. No, Michelle, that's not it.

It's peach season where I live. Peach season comes 'round once a year, so I figure that an average person only gets about fifty seasons of fresh peaches where he or she is grown up enough to enjoy them properly without being so old and shaky that nothing tastes good anymore. That's really not very many. Are you making the most of your time here? Have you eaten a peach this season?

The season isn't particularly long, so you don't have forever on this project. Get a ripe peach, one that smells like a peach and gives just a little when you touch it. Trust your senses on the ripeness issue. (You're an ape, made to be able to select ripe fruit. It'll be okay.) Make sure your peach is at room temperature because cold fruit is an abomination unto Nuggan. Wash the peach and then slice it into wedges off the pit. Eat the wedges, peeling each one cleanly from the skin with your fingers and teeth, so that you're left holding a scrap of wet velvet skin when the wedge is all gone. That's what I want you to do. If your peach is properly ripe, this is trivially easy. (If your peach isn't properly ripe, try again later with another peach.) Go on, do it. If you're fastidious, I guess you can throw the scraps of wet velvet skin away. My friend La does that -- I don't think she likes the fuzz. It doesn't bother me, so I eat 'em.

You are not allowed to skip this exercise on the grounds that you eat canned peaches. Canned peaches are not the same. They are slimy and taste of metal. Further, due to budget cuts, management is unable to provide the studio audience with peaches -- you're going to have to supply your own materials for this exercise. Sorry about that.
