Apr. 24th, 2005 01:12 pmI made a cake yesterday. As some of you are probably already aware, the cake I made was the one true cake because I don't make any other cakes. It's chocolate. It's got gooey white icing. The icing is fat-free.
I also helped my cousin San and her husband install a new garbage disposal. Mostly I watched -- they had it pretty well together by the time I got there and about the only useful thing I did was suggest a quickie trip to the local hardware store for better-fitting pipe bits.
That evening I did pizza, beer, and scrabble with them and my aunt SJ at SJ's house. I had been planning to pawn off my cake on them but SJ had also made a chocolate cake so I figured it would be best to leave mine at home and I did that. I'll take some in for the employees come Monday if there's any left -- I'm quite fond of the one true cake, so there may not be any left by then. We'll see.
I didn't win any of the scrabble games, but we had a good time anyway.
Today I did laundry and fetched a load of horse shit for my dad's wife to fertilize her garden. Dad and Sue came along to help, which was nice. It's a pain in the ass to do by yourself, but two other people makes the process fly along nicely. The weather was raw and blustery, which had shifted to flurries by the time we got back. I know it's late April, but that doesn't mean we won't be having temperatures between 30 and 40 just the same. Welcome to the mountains. At least there wasn't any wind in the barn.
Afterward, there was cake.
