I went to the Wegman's in State College today to grocery shop. The upshot is that you folks get a non-Monday grocery post wherein I spend more than about twenty dollars on food. While I know this is pretty exciting, try to contain yourselves.

Old grocery budget: $1647.92
Amount spent: $36.36
New grocery budget: $1611.56

Stuff I got: 20 lbs sushi rice, packet of corn tortillas, 2 cans green enchilada sauce (brother Joe spoke highly of it), 3 lbs. dried black beans, 6 lbs dal (2 red and 4 yellow), 2 packets of udon noodles, 1 huge packet of the good kind of soba noodles, some lovely collard greens, and a bunch of bananas. The way I figure it, I still got out of the grocery paying under a dollar a pound for edible food (packaging not included). The Wegman's has such pretty food. It's all attractively laid out, too. Their produce is striking. Their selection of dried bean food items is delightful. It's a field trip and a half, only marred by the fact that I can only eat so much fresh food at any given time... so I don't buy things that will go bad before I can eat them. While this is indeed a good and frugal policy, it's a bit on the boring side.

How did I get to be such a fuddy-duddy? <-- look. Even using the fucking term, which makes me ever so much more so. Damn it.
