Grocery night. The collards were lovely, so I bought some. Yay collards! The strawberries were too expensive, so I didn't buy any even though I could smell them ten feet away. Anyway, I had strawberries last week and I'm not terribly interested in having them again this week. The asparagus was still nice and still two bucks a pound, so I got some of that, again, because I can eat asparagus every week from now to eternity and not get tired of it. I also bought ginger and garlic (both fresh) even though I wasn't in desperate need of them because the Weis had 'em and they didn't look crappy. Strike while the iron is hot, or whatever. They'll keep in the freezer, anyway. I also got cheese, red pears (two of them), bananas, lemons (ingredient for a request), sliced almonds (see "lemons"), two pounds of butter (for me and for ingredient purposes), milk, and bananas.

Things the Weis does not carry that I currently need: soba noodles, udon noodles, black turtle beans (dried -- I don't like the canned ones), chana dal, masoor dal. *sigh* Online shopping, here I come.

Old grocery budget: $1690.06
Grocery spending: $23.73
New grocery budget: $1666.33

State of the grocery budget: Forty weeks of grocery-getting remain in the year. Grocery budget is running about twenty dollars a week. Let's be generous and say I spend $25.00 per week. A rough estimate for the rest of the year's budget, then, is $1000.00. Odds are pretty good that I'm not going to run out of grocery budget before the year's over. If I divide the grocery budget that's left equally among the remaining weeks, I'd have to blow about $41.66 on groceries every week to run out of money by the end of the year. I don't think that's going to happen, but stay tuned in case I decide I need to eat more expensive foods and stuff.
