With Thyme, I did feet (Useful. Goal achieved.), leading practice (very nice), saddle practice (putting on, tightening up, taking off, repeat as needed, pull on stirrups, act as if getting on without actually getting on) and all of that went alarmingly well. She still needs brain-practice, and I imagine we'll do that by putting a halter and lead on her and letting her wander around in the yard wearing it. In the process of wandering around eating, she'll step on the lead, see, and yank her head and have to figure out how to move the feet off the lead so that she can walk again. Watching this learning process from a lawnchair is a great way to spend an afternoon. Horses think slowly enough that you can see the process happening. One foot goes up, gentle tug on the head, nope, still stuck, pick a different foot, gentle tug, etc. It's more exciting than watching golf, anyway. It's amazing how much nicer horses are to be around when they've practiced stepping on the lead rope. It does good things to their brains AND the human can simply kick back with a beverage of choice and enjoy the show. (Even dumb or nutty horses only yank themselves hard about four or five times before the brain engages, so this isn't like a rodeo thrill-a-minute.)

Nick actually came up to me today, which was damn nice of her. We worked on some basic ground skills (she was very light and pleasant, today) and then we practiced bridling. I am pleased with her progress.

Gillian has Thyme's full sister and claims she's a complete lunatic. I just can't see that. Tamar is pretty sensible and Stoney, while pushy (it's a Morgan thing) and bullheaded (again, a Morgan thing), is not insane. Thyme is sensible and patient. She has a great personality for a horse. I can't see her full sister being a lunatic. Gillian says she'll bring her over this weekend so that we can evaluate her lunatic-ness. Liss was like "Well, if you like her, we'll know she's insane." Giving me shit for liking nutcases. *sigh* I don't like them BECAUSE they're nutcases. It doesn't work like that. Besides, if I didn't ride them, they'd go for meat because nobody else is lining up for a crack 'em.

Came home, split some wood. Boo-yah. These little short pieces of wood make me look like I'm all Abe Lincoln with the splitting maul. It's pretty fun, since most of the pieces split in one hit. *thwack* *thwack* *thwack*. Yep. I'm da man.

Also noticed that the People of Saudi Arabia are running ads on my local radio station. What the fuck? Can someone explain this to me? They're advertising that they are not terrorists and that they are not the funders of Al Quaeda or whatever. The 9-11 bombers.
