Happy post-xmas. I'm sorry to have abandoned my adoring public during the holiday, but brother-the-elder, Big Cookie, Mommy, whatever-he-is-today (it changes), and Coyote were visiting and I'd honestly rather spend time with them than post on my LJ. (Full disclosure: They lured me out of my house by dangling Battlestar Galactica episodes in front of me.)

It was a pretty good holiday. It's not that everyone gets along all of the time but more that we're willing to let some things slide because togetherness is more important than stomping out to be the drama queen. It was one of our better efforts in the getting-along department, anyway. I would have liked to see more of Amy and Larry and their kids, but scheduling simply didn't permit.

Grandma seemed quite pleased with the cards. I think they went over well. I should have thought to get her at least duplicates because she was making noises that she couldn't bear to send any of them away. *sigh* I tried to explain that the magical internets could make there be more cards of any given card in a scant two weeks with pointing and clickiting, at very reasonable prices, but I don't know if that got through or not.

The Big Cookie (this would be the gingerbread man from Shrek 2, in case you're confused) household, exercising tremendous restraint, got me a DDR pad and DDR Extreme 2 (came in the box with the pad, is why) for my slightly-used PS2 WITHOUT, and this is important, making any snide remarks about my uncoordinated, aged, and infirm self bouncing around to a video game designed for coordinated fourteen year olds with stick-like bodies. While it has artists and songs I have totally not at all ever heard of, it's fun. It's as much fun as it looked like it would be. It's been two hours of fun already and I am now taking a break because I'm supposed to be avoiding strenuous activity. The Big Cookie household is to be commended for not laughing at the thought of me and my desire to DDR. Mad propz to you, there. Because I'm not supposed to be playing any... very much... LOTS of DDR (it's not a forbidden activity on the discharge sheet AND there's no heavy lifting involved), the Big Cookie household also bought me a Bible game for my PS2. That's what it says. The Bible Game. The box says Music from the hottest Christian artists and then goes on to list some. (I gotta say, if the Who Wants to be a Millionaire question was "Name some of the hottest Christian artists", I would have to be phoning a friend, hopefully one with access to google. I don't know as how I have any friends who could name hot Christian artists off the cuff.) As I've already learned something and I don't even have the shrink wrap off yet, I can see that this is going to be a very educational game, indeed. Look for a review here in a bit after I've gotten my ass thoroughly kicked by The Bible Game.

I now want the songs (Not all of them, just the non-sucky ones. About half the songs so far are sucky.) on the DDR game. And the Shrek song (All Star by Smashmouth) that Duncan likes so much. Actually, there are a number of songs on the Shrek CD that do not suck. Probably I should just buy the Shrek CD. Bet I can get one used at amazon.com.
