I got home last night and stoked the fire and ate supper and wandered around my house (which is not very big) while chatting on the phone with various friends and relatives to reassure them that I am not dead. I got my first decent sleep since the surgery -- I hadn't slept much to speak of in the hospital -- and discovered that while Percocet does kill every bit of leftover pain, it makes me all weepy and emotional. (Tried one of those to see if I could sleep on my side, which I much prefer.) Given the side effects, I think I'm done with that. I like codeine better but painkillers are not a product where ask for it by name is a workable option. If you do that, the medicos think you take 'em recreationally or something... and while I generally have sufficient painkillers left over from any painkiller incident for recreational use, I don't SET OUT to get painkillers for recreational use. It's just a happy byproduct of having anything medical done.

Got up this morning, took one of my "take these until gone" NSAIDs (generic toradol), and wandered around the house a bit. The discharge sheet says that I'm to be walking and there's all kinds of snow outside so I'm walking inside. It's boring but I can only sit still comfortably for about half an hour at a time so the walking breaks up the sitting still stuff. Should things continue on in this vein, I will most definitely be able to make xmas cookies for the function at Chez Matt. I will also be able to drive myself -- I was released with no restrictions on driving and I don't foresee any difficulties on that front.
