which_chickThe boy (that'd be Ash, who worked for us this past summer) wasn't home when I dropped by today after work to leave off part of his Halloween costume. He was at square dancing. (Yes, the swing your partner, do-see-do, alamand left affair. That thing. Probably there are chickens in breadpans. Likely there are turkeys in the straw, too. I'd like to note for the record that the boy is at square dancing ENTIRELY WITHOUT IRONIC INTENT. He's at square dancing because (a) there are chicks and (b) the square dancers get out of school to go to the State Farm Show in Harrisburg.) Anyway, he wasn't home when I dropped off my contribution to his Halloween outfit. My contribution: Black fishnet stockings and a black satin corset.
The problem with loaning these sorts of items is that I then have people asking So, why DO you own *that*? questions. I don't think these people will be asking that again anytime soon, though. There's a surprising amount of mileage in a small, private smile and the words It was a gift.
I think he's planning on dressing like a hooker for Halloween. I'm not sure how well that's going to work -- he's not particularly delicate of feature or build. We shall see, I guess.
I have been trying very, very hard not to comment on any of the interesting things that have come up in the process of dressing Ash like a hooker. In particular, I had a great deal of difficulty keeping a straight face when he asked if my fishnets were reinforced toe or sandal toe because he was wearing open-toed platforms and didn't want the reinforced toe kind because they'd look dorky. (They're sandal toe.) I didn't think seventeen year old boys knew that stockings came in two choices of toe. Perhaps most of them don't.
He is planning to shave his legs, chest (he's a furry seventeen), armpits, and face. He says it will look shitty otherwise and he doesn't want furry legs with fishnets. Mmm-hmm. Here in redneck land, most boys who dress in drag for Halloween are doing it for comedic effect. Ash... wants to look good. It's not wrong, not at all, but it's an unusual take on the concept.
He's wearing makeup and a wig. Trys will probably help him with the makeup. I don't think he knows how to do it himself, but I could be wrong.
There will also be platform heels, stunningly high and slut-like platform heels that fit his feet and that he can walk in. I've seen him walk in the heels because I expressed disbelief that he could walk in heels. He's better at it than I am. Bastard.
He's been on a diet for the last three weeks because he doesn't want to look BAD as a hooker. Er. Whatever. I bite my tongue any more on this and I'll be drawing blood.
He also asked for advice on creating cleavage where there isn't any. *sigh* I know more about this than I want to admit, but when pressed, I disclosed the delights of duct tape and the importance of padding to the sides and underneath so that it doesn't LOOK like you've basically taped your pecs together. :)
