One of the things I don't do much in Japanese is write anything -- I am not very good at it and I look a fool when I try. However, I am making a concerted effort to not let this stop me because I won't get any better if I don't try. Here, for your perusal, is the best I can currently do with "The Three Little Pigs"



Since my Japanese is probably crappy enough that you can't tell what I'm trying to say, I've given you a "This is what I think I'm writing" translation underneath each chunk of story.

昔昔ある所に、三小さな豚がいった。第一豚が家の干し草を作り上げました。第二豚が家の枝を作り上げました。そうして第三豚は、家の煉瓦を作り上げました。
(Once upon a time, there were three little pigs. The first pig built a house of hay. The second pig built a house of sticks. And the third pig built a house of bricks.)

第一豚の家に、狼が来ました。
(A wolf came to the first pig's house.)

「小さな豚、小さな豚！この戸を開けて。僕を入れんだぞ！」と狼、煩くの声で言った。
("Little pig, little pig! Open this door! Let me in, dammit!" said the wolf in a noisy voice.)

「だめですよ！顎の毛に、いいえ。顎の毛に、いいえ。」と第一豚がかちかち声で言い返しました。
("I can't! By my chin hairs, no. By my chin hairs, no." replied the first pig, in a scared voice.)

「僕を入れないなら僕が大きい息をついてお前の家を倒すんだよ！」と狼が言った。
("If you don't let me in, I'll take a big breath and blow your house down." said the wolf.)

第一豚の戸を開けなかった。狼が大きい息をつきました。始めまして倒す。第一豚の家は倒れました。
(The first pig's door did not open. The wolf took a big breath. He began to blow. The first pig's house was destroyed.)

干し草は強いじゃありました。狼が第一豚を食べました。「も腹経った」と思った。
(Hay was not strong. The wolf ate the first pig. "I'm still hungry", he thought.)

第二豚の家に、狼が来ました。
(The wolf came to the second pig's house.)

「小さな豚、小さな豚！この戸を開けて。僕を入れんだぞ！」と狼、煩くの声で言った。
(Little pig, little pig! Open this door. Let me in, dammit!" said the wolf in a noisy voice.)

「だめですよ！顎の毛に、いいえ。顎の毛に、いいえ。」と第二豚が、かちかち声で言い返しました。
("I can't. By my chin hairs, no. By my chin hairs, no." replied the second pig, in a scared voice.)

「僕を入れないなら僕が大きい息をついてお前の家を倒すんだよ！」と狼が言った。
("If you don't let me in, I'll take a big breath and blow your house down." said the wolf.)

(The second pig's door did not open. The wolf took a big breath. He began to blow. The second pig's house was destroyed.)

枝は強いじゃありました。狼が第二豚を食べました。でも、「も腹経った」と思った。
(Sticks were not strong. The wolf ate the second pig. "I'm still hungry", he thought.)

そうして第三豚の家に、狼が来ました。（この家は煉瓦を作り上げました。）
(And so the wolf came to the third pig's house. [This house was made of bricks.])

「小さな豚、小さな豚！この戸を開けて。僕を入れんだぞ！」と狼、煩くの声で言った。
(Little pig, little pig! Open this door. Let me in, dammit!" said the wolf in a noisy voice.)

(The wolf tried hard. But, the third pig's house was not destroyed!)

煉瓦は強いでした。第三豚は狼を撃って殺したんだよ。（第三豚が狼を食べなかった。）
(Bricks were strong. The third pig shot and killed the wolf. [The third pig did not eat the wolf.])
