After Om walked the earth as a tortise in Small Gods, Omnianism as a faith turned away from the conquer-and-convert-or-die approach to getting new members and embraced persuasive, nonviolent arguing as the New Way of recruiting new members. Apparently this inspired congregation members to quit naming their sons things like "Smite the Faithless With Fists of Iron" and to start naming them stuff like "Visit the Infidels with Explanatory Pamphlets". Constable Visit (full name as above) is a member of the Ankh-Morpork Night Watch under Commander Vimes and first appeared, IIRC, in Feet of Clay.
