I am still making some slow headway. The carpet and padding is all torn up and out. There are some staples left, but... not many. All the baseboard trim is off. I've primed over all the heavy pink (lower 1/3 or so of the walls) so that it will cover with a lighter color. I'm considering using apartment beige because it's... relatively free. A gallon of paint is seriously expensive these days and one room worth of apartment beige will not be noticed missing from the five gallon buckets I buy at work. (I am my work. This is indeed a grift, but a small one.)
I hope to have all the necessary painting wall painting done this weekend so that I can go ahead and order flooring. Painting is kinda slow because I have to move stuff in order to paint. There is not enough house to empty out all the room and then paint, so it's... not fast. But, I am a neat and tidy painter and it'll be fine.
How are the baby cactus doing? Pretty well. There are like eight of them sprouted now. They're all super tiny (Cactus do not waste effort giving their seeds much fuel, it's more of a "fuck you, grow if you can, suckas" affair but with low-effort seeds, they can make gazillions of them. Anyway, cacti exist so I guess it's a good strategy for them.) but they're green. I'm calling it a success so far. I've ordered some lights for them so that they can grow on better, free shipping on that and the lights will get here next week sometime. Very excited, considering how to best construct a plant stand for them that can support them and their lighting. (My room does not get enough real light for cacti growth. It gets south sun but I'm in a narrow valley and there just isn't enough...duration. They will need lights.) The painting of walls and ceiling is on timeline so that I can get that done before I build them a stand/shelf and rig the lights.
How's the orchid doing, the blooming one? It's working on its flower spike, which is advancing a little. All the other orchids appear to be doing OK as well. Nothing has died yet.
How's the horse? He's fine. I went out with him and the boy (on a leadline) and Trys the other day. No issues, never are. He's furry and chonk and we're heading into winter. Young horse is also just fine.
