AKA: New kindle book releases upload at midnight-ish.

As you may or may not know, Naomi Novik has written three books of what Harry Potter COULD HAVE BEEN if it was... better. More adult. More explicit about The Wizarding World and how much assholery & classist stuff was wrapped around the concept of purebloods and muggles. My Word On It, if you have any interest whatsoever in magical boarding school stories that involve heavy duty ethics and shit, you should read these books. Soonest.

Book the first: A Deadly Education
Book the second: The Last Graduate
Book the third, which I have been waiting for FOR A FUCKING WHOLE ENTIRE YEAR: The Golden Enclaves.

I am enjoying more than I probably should the Scholomance books by Naomi Novik.

But which_chick, the second book only came out yesterday.

Yes, and I have read it. And now I want to go back and read the first one again so that I can read the second one right afterward.

I may schedule that for this weekend, pending rain.

These are books that I could pick apart the worldbuilding but I don't want to because I'm having rather a lot of fun there and if I started picking apart the worldbuilding, then I couldn't have the fun.

I like the hero. She's great. I like the school, also great. I like the concept of how magic works. Just me over here living my best fantasy magical boarding school life, okay?
