This is my brother Joe.
This is my brother Roy.

The brothers at least skim what I write. My parents both know where my LJ is and they either read it or they don't. I don't worry much about it. I'm thirty-four years old and I don't live with either parent. It's not like they're going to ground me at this late date and I'm reasonably certain they know better than to try.

Does your family know about your LJ? Do any of them keep blogs that you read?

My mother used to read my blog when it was over on blogger.com. (Mostly because my blog was quoted in a Boston Globe article about blogs...my mother's boyfriend read it and told her about it.) However, I don't think she's read this one.
My sister barely knows how to work her email and my father doesn't even own a computer.

So, it's pretty much just my husband that reads this. I don't really hide it from anyone but I'm not handing out the url to my family either. If they find it, wonderful. If they don't, whatever.

Don't believe any of my family, except possibly my aunt, are aware of my LJ.

Not sure how I'd feel if they were. I wouldn't modify what I write: I refuse to censer myself for anyone. It may modify how I wrote - being polite is different to censorship (except when taken to extremes).

Of the rest of my family, the most computer-literate is my 12-year old brother. Nope, no blogs there.

I barely have any contact with my family at all though. Love them to pieces, but.. spending time with them is rough. very rough. My ethics are very divergent from the moral structure I grew up with, and that they still (at least claim to) adhere to - for one thing, I don't have any morals any more at all, as far as I can tell. I know they care about me, after their fashion.. but we just don't see anything in the same way. I feel more connection with you than I do with most of my immediate family.

I do live 1500km from my family (3000km in the case of my next-eldest brother). That's deliberate - at least 40% of the reason I moved here was to be far enough away that they couldn't interfere in my life too much..

I am lucky in that I have a family willing to tolerate me or at least willing to not take issue with the parts of me that bother them. Good thing they are like that -- I'd be lost without them.

As for morals... if you're talking those silly religious rules about whom you may fuck and how you may fuck 'em, I've never been much on all that. Seems kind of silly -- they're never rules about the important things.

Not that you asked, but here are the important rules: Full disclosure. Playing fair. Not misleading your partner(s) about your intentions and/or feelings. Consent. Discretion regarding the habits, practices, and endowments of the people one has had -- you were all naked there and everyone you've been with has ammunition on you, too. (It's not just good manners to be discreet. It's also in your own best interests. Discussing the people you've had after you've had them can sharply limit your future prospects, whereas discretion is always a virtue in bed partners. Always.)

Not that you asked

But I did, in a later post ;)

Time for bed now...

Agree with all of those rules btw.

Incidentally, I cross-posted your comments here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/zhasper/44683.html?view=75403#t75403) because they seemed relevant.. I can remove them if you'd prefer. I included a link back to here in case anyone wants to view them in-context.

Cross-post away. :) It's flattering.

My folks have recently been made aware of my LJ (which fits in with the LJ recently coming into being). They whine and moan that I don't call them enough (as is their wont, being parents and all). So I've told them that while I'll call when I can, if they really want to know what's going on in my life they can read the LJ.

As far as blogs are concerned, neither of my parents are computer-savvy enough (or have the inclination, for that matter) to build and/or maintain one. My Dad has sorta mastered the intricacies of email (via his America Offline account), and he forwards me inane emails with attachments containing jokes that *he* thinks are funny, but that's the extent of his computer involvement.

I'm not so sure I'd read his stuff anyway; while things have improved somewhat, I *still* don't get along that well with Pater. And I don't see that really changing anytime soon.

My sister reads my journal, but doesn't have one of her own. My parents don't have a computer. I wish they would get one and have net access, because I know they'd like my photo galleries.
