I bought myself an electric knife sharpener for xmas because it was the sort of thing I thought I might enjoy having. As is par for the course, I read reviews and stuff to determine which electric knife sharpener I might like to own, cost not really entering into it once you get to "not more than $200". I do kinda care what a knife sharpener costs, but if it's under $200, I am not going to fight over $20 here or there.
I got this one: Chef’sChoice 15 Trizor XV EdgeSelect Professional Electric Knife Sharpener for Straight and Serrated Knives.
It comes with an instruction booklet telling you how to use it. It's not a super complicated booklet and if you know how long three seconds is and can count and know your left from your right, you can probably use it correctly.
How does it work?
Very well. It works very well. Knives are very sharp. It's easy enough to do that I will likely do it again in a timely fashion. I can now have sharp knives without much effort. Are they "professional knife sharpener" sharp? No. Are they still pretty fucking sharp and definitely sharp enough for my not-a-chef kitchen? Yes. Sharp enough to surprise you? Yes. Sharp enough to make cutting shit up super fun and slightly dangerous? Yes.
I endorse this product. If you are on the fence about a fairly salty electric knife sharpener, this one is very nice, easy to use, and works quite well.

Date: 2025-01-13 12:27 am (UTC)I have a set of very-good-quality knives (a graduation present from college, lo these many years ago) plus a few more of like quality I've added (the santoku is wonderful and I love it) to my collection that will hold as good of an edge as I can put on and sharp knives *matter* to me. So, yeah, merry xmas to me, but I also can't say everybody needs this item.
