All of this is in the interests of being slightly less creaky and somewhat less fat. Insofar as I can tell a month in, I am neither less creaky nor less fat.

But I've been tracking my walkies time with Trys because we do the same walkies over and over and therefore we can see improvement over time, maybe, if there is improvement. The first time I have for a half-walkies (sometimes I forget to time it) is on 9/11/24, when we took 33 minutes for the half walkies. (This does not compare to the times I was posting in 2011 but that was thirteen years ago and I was thinner and fitter and so forth. *sigh* And I'd been doing it longer before I could do fifteen minute miles up the road.)

First time I have for full walkies was 1 hr 18 minutes on 9/1/24.

Full walkies is 4 miles, up and down the driveway. Half walkies is up the driveway only, where she parks at the top, I drive up and get her, we drive home, we hike up, and then she drives me home.

Oh, and when I say "up" and "down" here, that refers to a fairly substantial incline of about 400 feet net. It is literally up a pretty beefy hill to go "up" the driveway. Trys does not like walking downhill and feels it lacks health benefits. I disagree, but also it's more fun to go walkies with a buddy, so... yeah. Also just doing half walkies is most of the aerobic goodness in half the time, which works better for her schedule. We try for a full walkies on the weekend when she has more time.

Last night we did half walkies up the road. In (get this) thirty-one minutes and two seconds. That's two minutes off our start time, which is pretty legit. To be fair, it was cool and drizzling, which helps with cooling. And we were hoofing it. It is not a dicking-around stroll to go up the road in 31 minutes. Even at 33 minutes, we are sweating. At 31 minutes we are huffing damn near the whole time (there is a small downhill break in amongst all the uphill and it takes me like five steps of "not uphill" to recover and not be huffing, that's the "damn near" part.) and also sweating.

Because "outside time" helps with mood and shit coming into the winter months, we're going to make a concerted effort to keep at this shit through the cold weather.

On the yoga front, I've been yoga-ing with Lala three nights a week (Mon, Thur, Sat) at 25 minutes on the beginner-1 setting of the down dog app. We do the core strength stuff. I am neither flexible nor strong. All the balance poses are wobbly AF. Figure 4 crunches are a joke. Boat pose and I have a mutual hatred. But we're trying. This is only two full weeks in, we will get better. Yoga started later than walkies because Lala's massage person retired and she needs to do something to keep her back functional. The massage person suggested yoga. So, we yoga at Lala's house. I am also yoga'ing at home (badly) with the core strength stuff on the non-Lala yoga days.
