Yes. I actually still am making a sweater. It's got the body part from neck to waistband finished and one whole sleeve done. So, in terms of completion, it's about 50% done. (The last sleeve takes forever.) I'm currently working on spinning enough yarn to knit the second sleeve and am about halfway done with that. I'm still on board with the sweater and making headway at the knitting and also at the spinning yarn to knit *with*.

Also, baby blanket project (2 baby blankets in NOT PINK for cousin's gf who had her baby on Thanksgiving -- she was on time, I am behind schedule) is slightly less than half done because I am a very slow hemmer. There were also rust stains on the first piece of purple flannel that I got from JoAnns (online) and I didn't discover that until it had been washed and so I had to send off for another and then I was mad at the project and put it in time-out. Unfortunately, pregnant people do not pause their pregnancies just because the baby presents have been misbehaving and are in time-out. Oh, well.

The seams for baby blankets need to be hand-sewn because machine sewing makes harder seams. It's softer and more invisible if you do them by hand with teeny whipstitches. Dina (baby mom) already has a baby blanket or two, including a lovely satin one that Dora (cousin's insane mother) made for her but the ones I am making are huge (45" on a side) double-sided flannel squares that are eminently machine-washable and puke-on-able and baby-swaddle-able and also NOT PINK. They don't look like much but they are supremely useful for babies. The standard 3' square size is not really big enough, especially if you have a larger baby. This baby is 9 lb 6 oz, so, yeah. A bigger baby. I have finally gotten the hang of press, pin, and hem (and omg those are skillz each one of them), so hopefully I'll be able to wrap that up this week in time for a "hey, you've been out of the hospital for a couple of days, here are two useful baby blankets and a small box of shortbread cookies, can I peer at your baby" visit. I don't LURVE babies or ache to hold them or anything. They're weird and floppy and prone to leaking from every orifice. Not a fan. However, people who have babies question your basic humanity if you don't visit and peer at the baby and ask to hold it. *sigh* I am hoping that we can skip the "hold the baby" part. Possibly the baby will be asleep when I visit. That'd be awesome.

I am looking into making an impression tool to put lovely patterns on my shortbread cookies instead of just randomly poking them with forks. I'm thinking geometric patterns would be nice. I have thoughts on this and probably ought to get on with it if I'm to produce patterned shortbreads for Dina & Jon. (They do not need or want patterned shortbreads. However, like with non-pink baby blankets, that's what I want to make, so...)
