Today was rainy and chilly and ick all day so aside from a brief outing to (a) the feed store and (b) the grocery store and (c) feeding the boys over at Laur's house, the entirety of the day was consumed by handicrafts and being warm in front of the fire.

Full disclosure: When you read "Come and see!" above, I sincerely hope you went straight to "a measure of wheat for a penny". If so, award yourself both ears and the tail for being on the wavelength.

Handicraft 1: The Brown Sheep Sweater

Recent (since last post) progress was... finished the last of the necessary three bobbins of singles, plied same into a 3-ply yarn until the least-full bobbin ran out, spliced and wound remaining singles onto one bobbin, wound off plied yarn onto niddy-noddy, tied, washed, hung to dry (it made two fairly hefty skeins), one skein is now also dried, taken down, and made into a ball from which to knit. Also tried on sweater for fit, seems legit. Knitting is now a solid 5" below the bottoms of the armpit holes and I am well-supplied with yarn for onward progress though I will probably have to spin some more before we're through here.

Since the sweater looks largely the same as in the picture on previous post, here is a picture of the newly-made yarn before I wound it into a ball today.

Handicraft 2: Solstice Socks from 2018. No, really. They've been languishing and I occasionally felt guilt about them during their languishment but it's been about three years since I touched them.

Thing is, I started these and then I got mad at them and ragequit. In light of extensive consideration, I think perhaps that the ragequitting was because I couldn't see for shit (the stitches and the chart are both kind of tiny and eye-bleed-y) and a lot of the frustration I experienced over the project back then was due to NOT BEING ABLE TO FUCKING SEE WHAT I WAS DOING.

Progress since last post is... located materials, chart, magnetic keeper-of-place-in-chart, straightened out everything and got ready to rumble, laddered down and fixed an error in first full diamond motif, and knitted some rows. I am now past the first two instances of decrease. This is sadly not very fast knitting because chart. I mean, I'm not a fast knitter to start with and I sure as shootin' am not a fast knitter when I have to look at tiny blurry squares to see what I'm doing. Here's a current-progress pic:
